Initially, the follow up to James Gunn's highly successful GOTG Volume 2 was slated to be in production no later than 2019. Now, with so many issues surrounding their firing of the director, the project has been delayed until 2021, with a potential release date hitting in late 2022 at the earliest. This is a huge wait time between movies which may cause fans to lose a bit of interest in the series. While they're still planning on using Gunn's script for the project, Marvel and Disney continue to shop around for a director to helm the third movie in the series.
The current working title has been leaked as 'Hot Christmas'. Whether or not this means anything about the subject matter in the movie still remains to be seen. And we won't be finding out any time soon either.
