Marvel News: Adam McKay Has Discussed Directing Silver Surfer With Marvel

It appears there could be something new stirring in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For years, the Silver Surfer has been missing from theaters and director Adam McKay has actually discussed the possibility of helming a feature film involving the character with the studio. Off his hugely successful drama about the financial crisis, The Big Short, McKay is currently promoting his biopic about Dick Cheney starring Christian Bale. Vice takes many similar cues as his previous film, even using the same editorial style. Now, it's been revealed that he's been in close contact regarding a potential Marvel gig.

He was part of a rewrite on the first Ant-Man movie and was also contacted about taking over Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3. However, late in 2018, he revealed that he's more interested in kick starting Silver Surfer and has recently added fuel to the rumors with a quote from MTV that might mean it could be a real possibility:

"There actually has been some discussion about Silver Surfer. My agent certainly woke up. They were excited. We're in the middle of, you know, backing Vice right now, but, who knows, maybe in a couple months it could pop up. I really am excited about that idea. So, we'll see what happens."
