News from Deep Space: Alien Series Is Getting a Tabletop Roleplaying Game

Just in time for Alien Day, io9 revealed yesterday that Free League Publishing is bringing a new tabletop role-playing game to us set in the universe established by Ridley Scott's seminal sci-fi horror classic. Alien: The Roleplaying Game will be an all-new, completely original story set in the same world as Ellen Ripley's and will include a series of preset "Cinematic" storylines along with an open-world campaign.

The Roleplaying Game, the first such tabletop RPG set withing the Alien universe since 1989's Aliens Adventure Game, will be set directly after the events of Alien 3, meaning that the forthcoming events of Alien Resurrection will not have transpired yet. (More clone Ripley, yay!) The game will be shipping with one preset storyline titled Chariot of the Gods, with more preset storylines coming in the future. All the campaigns are supposedly going to be designed to be tied into each other, interconnecting together so that players' characters can be kept between the campaigns. Watch the announcement trailer below!

Alien: The Roleplaying Game is on track to be released by the end of the year.
