Sci-Fi News: Denis Villeneuve To Direct Dune Spinoff Series For Warner Media Streaming

We were all super excited when we found out that creative mastermind behind Blade Runner 2049 and Arrival would be spearheading a new cinematic version of Dune. Well, it appear that his work on the series will now be expanding beyond the theatrical realm. As part of their launching pad for Warner Streaming Media, Villeneuve will now be directing a brand new series called Dune: The Sisterhood as reported by Variety. Obviously, Villeneuve has been building quite the resume the past few years with visually arresting pieces of work that have moved from thriller to straight up science fiction.

Based in the Dune universe by Frank Herbert, The Sisterhood is an expansion piece that tells of the mysterious women, the Bene Gesserit. The women have extraordinary powers that will eventually lead them to Arrakis, otherwise known as Dune.

Villeneuve is set to direct the pilot at this time with Jon Spaihts writing the screenplay. The two are currently working on the film together. This could work out to be another amazing entry that could help push Dune to the forefront of modern science fiction.
