Breaking Bat News: Zoë Kravitz Cast as Catwoman in Matt Reeves' The Batman

It seems like The Batman is finally moving right along after several years of development hell. Initially set to be the first solo feature starring Ben Affleck as Batman (he was also going to direct), the movie was finally shifted over to Reeves' creative control. A few months ago it was reported that Robert Pattinson was on board the feature, taking over as a much younger Batman, in a movie which would spend more time on the detective aspect of the masked crusader. Now, this evening brings us some more huge news from the DC filmed universe.

After a couple weeks of speculation and rumor, Variety is reporting that Zoe Kravitz has officially signed on the dotted line to play Catwoman in the upcoming feature. Kravitz is the daughter of Lisa Bonet and iconic guitarist/vocalist Lenny Kravitz. She's been busy building a solid and dynamic resume of roles since 2003 with parts in Mad Max: Fury Road, the Divergent series and countless others. Now, she'll be handed the keys to Gotham City with this latest incarnation of Catwoman.

The Batman is set to begin filming sometime in late 2019 or early 2020. The movie will premiere on June 25th, 2021.
