No Shelter For The Weak: Faces of Death Reboot Coming From Legendary Pictures

No horror franchise is safe from the reboot treatment. Now, the 1978 underground cult hit that spawned numerous fake documentary sequels is getting a full relaunch from Legendary Pictures. The original film was an infamous release that supposedly chronicled the real deaths of humans and animals alike. After being banned in multiple countries due to its nasty content, the film made a massive run in video stores and drummed up interest in several sequels that all ended up making tons of money for the studio. Decades later, Faces of Death will be given a new life under the guidance of Cam directors Isa Mazzei and Daniel Goldhaber. They will write and helm the new version of the movie.

The Hollywood Reporter reported on the news earlier with a short synopsis of what's to come. The new entry will actually feature a plot:

The new plot revolves around a female moderator of a You-Tube like website, whose job is to weed out offensive and violent content and who herself is recovering from a serious trauma, that stumbles across a group that is recreating the murders from the original film. But in the story primed for the digital age and age of online misinformation, the question faced is are the murders real or fake?

We'll hold off judgement until we see the finished product. But this just seems like another sad attempt to cash in on horror nostalgia. In this day and age, something like this may not pass as entertainment.
