The Fast and the Furious franchise continues its run of box office successes with its ninth entry. F9 has just crossed the $100 million mark at the domestic U.S. box office and once again takes the top spot in theaters. Despite a nearly two year delay, the movie didn't lose any gas when crossing the starting line. Over the last two weekends, the movie has gone on to gross nearly $123 million in its first couple weeks of release, making it the fastest to reach the $100 million benchmark during the pandemic. It's already grossed over $9 million from IMAX screenings alone. With two more movies planned, the franchise doesn't seem to be losing any interest even if the internet memes are out of control.

Boss Baby: Family Business took the number two spot with a cumulative holiday weekend total of $20 million. The Forever Purge took the number three slot with nearly $16 million. Considering the Purge movies don't have massive budgets, it's proving to be another success for the studio.

The smaller film, Zola was also in the top ten this weekend, bringing in a meager $2.4 million at the box office.

With Black Widow right around the turn, it's going to be an interesting summer movie season. We can't wait to see what happens.
