A few weeks ago we published an article in which we picked Butterfield as a lead contender for this role.
Apparently, our spidey senses were not too far off base. Tonight, rumors are swirling that Butterfield is not far off from signing on the dotted line for the new Spiderman movie. While this will be a third incarnation of the character, it will be the first time that he'll cross over into the Marvel universe. And this will also be the first time that we get a younger Peter Parker in the 15-16 year old range.
Due to the faltering box office receipts of the Amazing Spider-Man movies, fans are going to be given a new, younger version of Peter Parker that will most likely stick around for a while. It's said that the new movie may be titled Spider-Man: The New Avenger and will cross over into several other Marvel properties. After months and months of waiting, it appears we may finally be honing in on the next web slinger.
