The long abandoned Patty Jenkins' Star Wars project, Rogue Squadron is now rumored to be adapted as a television series on Disney+. Initially cancelled in November of 2021, rumors are swirling that the project is currently in the early stages of being adapted for the streaming service. There is no direct confirmation from Disney or Lucasfilm at this time but is being reported on numerous outlets that this may be their next television series.
Rogue Squadron was first announced in 2020 but was shifted around and ultimately cancelled by Kathleen Kennedy. Industry insider MYTIMETOSHINE says,"Rogue Squadron is now being developed as a tv series."
In April of 2023, Kennedy said,"Rogue Squadron, that is something that we still talk about. Whether it's a movie or whether it ends up in the series space, that's definitely something".
With The Mandalorian heading to the big screen, the streamer may have some more room to fill with another new, original Star Wars program. There is no news on whether Jenkins will be attached to the project but her original script was complete.
