News: Fassbender Praises Alien: Covenant Set Design

Work is well underway on Ridley Scott's next Alien prequel and Fassbender has some nice words to say, comparing it to Blade Runner.

By now we've all dealt with the disappointment of the next Ripley story being put on the back burner for a while. Luckily for us, Ridley Scott and crew are well underway working on the sequel to Prometheus called Alien: Covenant. Filming has started in Australia in numerous locations. When asked about the film, Michael Fassbender told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that he couldn't be happier with the design direction the film has taken by stating:

“There are going to be great sets and aliens coming out of people. It’s amazing to watch Ridley work. I try to soak up as much knowledge as I can from him, because having worked on this kind of films a few times and having seen how many moving parts there are, how many people work on the set and how many departments need attention and the language, he’s an absolute master.”

and

“The sets are fantastic. Again, the most impressive sets I’ve seen since ‘Prometheus,’ which was the original setting. It’s a fantastic mixture of high-end technology and primitive elements. The way that I can explain it is the same way that Ridley did ‘Blade Runner.’

After a few years of being lost in the shuffle of horrendous films like The Counselor, it sounds like Mr. Scott is back to his origins making some excellent looking, visually spectacular movies. We cannot wait to see where this next Alien destination takes us. With Noomi Rapace not returning for the sequel, it'll be interesting to find out how and where this story goes next.
