Guy Ritchie has been hired by Disney to direct a live action version of Aladdin.
So the Disney live action train keeps on rolling, this time with news that Guy Ritchie is attached to direct a live action version of Aladdin. Ritchie's credits include Snatch, Sherlock Holmes, and the upcoming King Arthur starring Charlie Hunnam. This comes fresh off of the news that Jon Favreau will be tackling a live version of The Lion King. There are also versions of Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid that are in various stages of production. It is being reported that this will be based upon the 1992 animated film that was voiced by Robin Williams, but will not contain any of the musical elements. No release date has been scheduled.
