24 has run the gamut from being the best thing on tv during its initial run to being rebooted and raked over the coals with televised movies, shortened return seasons, and a new show, 24: Legacy, that lacks the presence of Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer altogether. With a brand new cast and a piss poor effort on the part of the writing staff of this soft reboot, ratings are not what was expected from the show. Kicking off after the Superbowl, 24: Legacy failed to capture its old audience and ratings have been dwindling since.
According to Deadline, the head of FOX is a 'little sad' over what's happening to their reborn 24. With only 7-8 million viewers watching the show over a week long period, the numbers are not standing up to what's needed to make this show a success. They're currently holding out on the show's fate until May when they will make an official announcement about the show's status.
At this point, I don't even think the return of Jack could save this sinking ship.
