Last week’s episode ended in typical Titan fashion, leaving your mouth ajar drooling for some sweet Titan action and you certainly get it plus more with Historia, though you’ll have to wait for it. This is two episodes in a row now that balances the action with the pertinent story and character relationships incredibly well.
Last week, Ymir and Christa were given a little exposition while this episode embellishes on their past answering the cliffhanger question, “what promise did Ymir ask of Christa?” Briefly, Eren, Mikasa, and Armin make an appearance as this episode is focused on the two newcomers, but at this point in the show this fragment of the story is just about as intriguing as the Titans themselves. As the show progresses – and in particularly with this episode – I’m finding that the show is just as much about the Titans as it is the nature of how we’re all connected and what makes human beings tick. Having not read the manga, I am completely at the mercy of the adaptation and am really enjoying it.
Five episodes in and there remains so much left to do with the season 2 arcs. The end of season 1 left us with several questions that have yet to be revisited. I hope they’re able to comfortably deliver without feeling too rushed or convoluted. This was a top-notch Titan entry either way.
