The Walt Disney live-action adaptation is running at full speed with no signs of slowing down. With the recent success of The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast, the studio continues to prep other properties for live-action films. The Lion King, Dumbo, and Mary Poppins are already in various stages of production and more are being considered. One of those is Pinocchio, with Deadline first reporting that Sam Mendes is in the early stages of talks to direct. Mendes is probably best known for the James Bond films Spectre and Skyfall. His most recent project is the play The Ferryman, which just opened in London. The Pinocchio script was written by Chris Weitz (Rogue One), who will also serve as a producer.
