News: Halloween Reboot Will Begin Shooting Soon In South Carolina

Less than two weeks ago we received the huge news that Jamie Lee Curtis will return as Laurie Strode for Danny McBride and David Gordon Green’s reboot of the Halloween franchise. Now comes word that the film will begin shooting in several weeks in Charleston, South Carolina. This news comes courtesy of an interview that David Gordon Green conducted with Filmmaker Magazine, noting that filming would commence in six weeks. This would put the start date somewhere near the end of December/beginning of January.

"I am working with Jason Blum, and he is great. Every horror fan knows Blumhouse and what they represent. The fact that me and Danny [McBride] wrote it is probably confusing to them, but we’ll keep that in the shadows. That is not going to be a part of how we campaign the movie.

We start shooting in six weeks in Charleston. I can’t say too much more as we are trying to keep things tight right now, but we are doing something unique. John Carpenter is involved as well, which is like a dream to me. The two films I couldn’t watch growing up were Halloween and Revenge of the Nerds, so I can’t wait to invite my parents to this one."

Danny McBride and David Gordon Green co-wrote the script, with Green directing and John Carpenter serving as an executive producer and possibly composing the score. It is being produced by Trancas International Films, Blumhouse Productions, and Miramax. Malek Akkad is producing for Trancas and Jason Blum is producing for Blumhouse. Universal Pictures will release the film on October 19, 2018.
