Rumor Mill: You're Our Only Hope: Rian Johnson or JJ Abrams Potentially Shortlisted To Direct Star Wars Episode IX

The internet was set ablaze today with the news that Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow has been officially removed from the third installment in the latest Star Wars trilogy. While fans had been questioning the choice of this director from the start, Kathleen Kennedy seemed to be initially impressed with his previous work. Now, due to creative differences, much like with the Han Solo spinoff movie, a director has been removed and another Star Wars project is in flux.

However, word broke quickly via Deadline and several other sites that Kennedy is so happy with Johnson's work on The Last Jedi that they're considering keeping him on board for the final installment. Obviously, nothing has been confirmed as of tonight, but it seems like a likely scenario. Other considerations are being made that JJ Abrams might also want another time at bat with the Star Wars galaxy. All fans may not be happy with that choice since The Force Awakens was such a nod to A New Hope. But, it still might be a positive solution to the issues they're having over at Lucasfilm.
