News: The Ex-Files: Gillian Anderson On Scully's Final Exit From The X-Files

With the event release of season 10 of The X-Files, fans hoped for a return to form for the characters. What many found was a lackluster run of episodes that fell far from the greatness of the original show. Now, with the 11th season on its second episode, Gillian Anderson has once again confirmed her exit from the show while talking at the Television Critic Association's winter press tour as quoted by Deadline:

"There’s lots of things I want to do in my life and in my career. It’s been an extraordinary character, but there’s lots of things to do and I don’t want to be tied down doing one thing."

It seems that she has just found that the show may have run its course and she wants to move on to new and possibly greater things. FOX has also confirmed that the show will not be returning without Scully as a central part of the show. So, this latest excursion will probably be the last for the original X-Files team. To put aside any rumblings of monetary compensation being an issue or that she might be trying to drum up a bigger paycheck she also said:

"I’m serious,” said Anderson. “I’m finished.”

It appears we have 8 episodes left, then X may be dead forever.
