News: Mackenzie Davis Set To Become The Face Of The Terminator Franchise



  Mackenzie Davis is in final negotiations to join the cast of the next Terminator film as “the face of the rebooted franchise. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton are both returning to their respective roles in James Cameron’s next Terminator, which has Deadpool‘s Tim Miller directing. 

The new film is said to be ignoring to be ignoring the sequels of the franchise and will be following the events that occur in Judgment Day. When he new film was announced, it was revealed that a new strong female character will be introduced. Cameron said that:

 “We’re starting a search for an 18-something woman to be the new centerpiece of the new story. We will fold time. We will have characters from the future and the present. There will be mostly new characters but we’ll have Arnold and Linda’s characters to anchor it.” 

Davis looks to be that new female character. She is primarily known for playing the computer hacker Cameron Howe on AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire and Yorkie in Black Mirror’s Golden Globe-winning episode San Junipero. She has also appeared in The Martian, Blade Runner 2049, Tully, and The Turning. THR notes that tthere is expected to be more major casting news soon and that while Davis is the face of the franchise, she’s not the person who will specifically be taking over for Hamilton. The Terminator is scheduled to be released on July 26, 2019.
