News: More Halloween News - John Carpenter Confirmed To Score The Film & Jamie Lee Curtis Talks About The Upcoming Trailer

After recently getting the first teaser poster for Halloween, now we have official confirmation from Jason Blum that John Carpenter will score the film. It was just a possibility until Blum confirmed it on a Twitter post last night.

Jamie Lee Curtis also recently spoke with Yahoo and talked about the upcoming trailer for the film, she said:

“I’ve seen a trailer and I’ve seen some footage, and it’s terrifying. They went full-tilt boogeyman. And I’ve never said that in my life, and I will say full-tilt boogeyman for the rest of the year as I go around talking about this.”

Curtis also shared her ideas for the potential title, saying:

“There was the idea of, ‘What do you call it?’ If I had had my druthers, I probably would’ve called it Halloween Retold. Because it’s being retold. It’s the original story in many, many, many ways. Just retold 40 years later with my granddaughter.”

Jamie Lee Curtis is returning to the Halloween franchise as Laurie Strode, with the rest of sequels being ignored. Judy Greer will be playing Karen Strode, Laurie’s daughter. Andi Matichak is playing the role of Greer’s daughter and Curtis’ granddaughter. It will also star Virginia Gardner (Runaways), Miles Robbins (My Friend Dahmer), Dylan Arnold (Mudbound), and Drew Scheid (Stranger Things).

Nick Castle will be returning to play Michael Myers in Halloween. He played the original masked killer known as "The Shape" in John Carpenters' original film. James Jude Courtney has also been cast to play the role of Michael Myers, said to be taking on the more physically challenging parts. Additionally, make-up and VFX artist Christopher Nelson (Suicide Squad, Deadpool, the Kill Bill films) is also on board.

Danny McBride and David Gordon Green co-wrote the script, with Green directing and John Carpenter serving as an executive producer and will compose the score. It is being produced by Trancas International Films, Blumhouse Productions, and Miramax. Malek Akkad is producing for Trancas and Jason Blum is producing for Blumhouse. Universal Pictures will release the film on October 19, 2018.

“Laurie Strode comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.”
