Annapurna pictures has acquired the US distribution rights to the crime thriller Destroyer, after an all-night bidding war Amazon and NEON.
The film was written by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi (The Invitation, R.I.P.D.), directed by Karyn Kusama (The Invitation, Girl Fight), and stars Nicole Kidman, Sebastian Stan, Toby Kebell, Tatiana Maslany, Bradley Whitford, and Scoot McNairy. It is currently in post-production and is expected to receive a fall festival run.
"LAPD detective Erin Bell (Kidman) who, as a young cop, was placed undercover with a gang in the California desert with tragic results. When the leader of that gang re-emerges many years later, she must work her way back through the remaining members and into her own history with them to finally reckon with the demons that destroyed her past."
