News: Spamalot To Get Movie Adaptation





The Tony award winning Broadway musical Spamalot is set to get a movie adaptation, with Fox fast-tracking the film. First reported by Deadline, Fox has selected Monty Pyhton member Eric Idle to write the script and Casey Nicholaw will direct.

Nicholal is a major Broadway name helmer whose credit include Mean Girls, which received Tony nominationss for Best Director and Best Choreographer, The Book of Mormon, and Aladdin. Nicholaw served as the choreographer on the original Broadway run of Spamalot, which was directed by the late Mike Nichols.

Monty Python veteran Idle is producing. Jeremy Kramer is overseeing the project, which is expected to begin casting soon to film next spring. The musical is based on the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, which lampooned the King Arthur legend.
