George Clooney is in early talks to direct the sci-fi thriller Echo for 20th Century Fox. Written by Christopher MacBride, it is expected that a deal will eventually be finalized.
Echo is about a drone specialist who has a psychological crisis: is he being paranoid in suspecting that his lover is not who she appears to be, and could she possibly have been replaced?
It is being produced by 21 Laps’ Shawn Levy, Dan Levine and Dan Cohen. The production company's credits include Arrival, Stranger Things and the upcoming Darkest Minds and Kin.
Clooney last directed Suburbicon. His other directing credits include Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Good Night, and Good Luck, Leatherheads, The Ides of March, and The Monuments Men.
