For years now, fans have wanted a movie reboot of Todd McFarlane's Spawn. Since the 1997 film was a critical punching bag and the film's visuals don't hold up very well two decades later, it's simply time for the popular comic book anti-hero to get another chance at silver screen stardom. With the casting of Jamie Foxx in the title role being announced just a few weeks ago, there hasn't been much more news about the upcoming reboot until today.

About an hour ago, news broke that Jeremy Renner has officially signed on to join the cast of the new Spawn movie. McFarlane is actually directing the project based on a script he wrote himself. Renner is starring as Twitch, the good cop that works hand in hand with Spawn. This is an interesting bit of news as Renner has his little niche still carved out in the Marvel Universe.
