News: Michael Jackson's Thriller 3D IMAX Attached To Eli Roth's Next Film

It's a Sunday and it's a holiday weekend which obviously means its a slow day around here. Just picking up on this bit of news from a couple days ago, we thought it was worth noting that Michael Jackson's Thriller 3D is being given and official release attached to Eli Roth's next horror film, which just so happens to be a kid's movie called The House with a Clock in Its Walls.

IMAX and the Estate of Michael Jackson have partnered to fully remaster Michael Jackson's Thriller 3D for the the format. The John Landis helmed video is the most influential of all time and left a permanent mark on the entire industry. Now, they've done a full restoration that will find the short film in theaters beginning on September 21, 2018.

The original Elmer Bernstein score and sound effects have been post converted to 5.7, 7.1 and Dolby Atmos to meet current audio standards. The remaster premiered at the Venice Film Festival in the 3D format last year but is now getting the IMAX treatment.

John Landis had this to say about the project:

“We didn’t just restore Thriller. We enhanced it … like in that scene in the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy and the others are being buffed and polished inside Emerald City.”

Look for the re-release alongside Eli Roth's latest movie just in time for the Halloween season.
