CBS All Access looks to expand further on Star Trek with a brand new animated series. Star Trek: Lower Decks will be a half hour show by Mike McMahan (Rick & Morty) and is already ordered for two seasons on the streaming service. The show is set to feature a support crew on one of Starfleet's lesser known space vessels. The show will be the first new series from CBS Eye Animation Productions and CBS Television Studios. Alex Kurtzman is obviously attached as a producer.
Star Trek: Lower Decks joins the ranks of Discovery and also the upcoming new project that will see Patrick Stewart return as Jean-Luc Picard. Each episode will be a half hour in length and will serve as a new type of series in the Trek canon, as it will not be centered on the bridge.
