Producer and Director Ava Duvernay is currently partnering with Netflix to produce a new documentary about Prince. With the full permission of the late artist's estate and family members, the project will be a retrospective on Prince's life and career. They'll be providing her with a full archive to work with including photos, videos, recordings and unreleased footage. The documentary is said to be a multi episode series that will chronicle his youth, his upbringing, and his time in the spotlight.
Duvernay is known for her work on Selma, Queen Sugar and various other films. Her debut documentary feature was This is the Life, which chronicled the alternative hip-hop scene in L.A. during the '90s.
In other Prince news, there is another documentary in the works that will chronicle the bands August 1983 Minneapolis. This was one of the legendary shows by Prince and the Revolution.
