Just one week after Netflix decided to cancel their Iron Fist series, streaming juggernaut Netflix has officially pulled the plug on one of their other Marvel series. That's right. Luke Cage has officially been axed by the heads at the streaming service. This comes as a total surprise to fans of the show. Unlike Iron Fist, Luke Cage seemed to have a much more loyal following. The following quote comes directly from Netflix:
“Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series.”
What lies in the future for Marvel and Netflix remains to be seen as now two separate shows have been officially pulled from the lineup. Most are as shocked as the viewership as a third season was almost totally expected as scripting and work had already been underway on the third season.
Deadline has confirmed the news this evening. Luke Cage is officially dead as a series.
