Box Office News: Queen Rules The Weekend

After a troubled production that saw director Bryan Singer walk off the set partly through filming, the Freddie Mercury and Queen biopic dominated the weekend with a nice financial haul. The movie managed to rake in $50 million domestically for the number one spot but also managed a cumulative total of $122.5 million. While this doesn't come near to the opening weekend for last month's Halloween or Venom, it's a huge success for a rock and roll biopic. Surprisingly enough, this weekend's other big release proved to be the lowest 2018 opening for a Disney film. The Nutcracker and the Four Realms came in second with a lowly $20 million.

Nobody's Fool came in the third spot with $14 million while A Star is Born and Halloween both fell to fourth and fifth place with $11.1 million and $11 million. The box office is on fire the past month or so, once again proving that people are still going to the cinema.
