Battlestar Reboot: Jay Basu Boards Galactica Relaunch as Writer

In a never ending cycle of reboots and relaunches, Battlestar Galactica is the next science fiction franchise to be getting another treatment. Initially launched as a television series in 1978 then a continuation called Galactica 1980, the brand saw heightened success with the 2004 remake that still maintains a massive cult following. Now, Paramount is looking to bring BSG back as a movie that will once again chronicle the battle between humans and cylons.

Today, it's being reported that writer Jay Basu (The Girl in the Spider's Web, Charlie's Angels, Monsters: Dark Continent) has been officially signed to pen the script. This new film is being touted as another full reboot of the successful story. Francis Lawrence (Red Sparrow) has been hired to direct the movie. No word has been released on how the series will be reimagined for this next iteration. However, there will be many things they'll be able to do with a film that they weren't able to do with any other version.

We'll remain cautiously optimistic on this one.
