Sad Autobot is Sad: Bumblebee Projected as Worst Box Office Opening in the Entire Franchise

While many are excited to finally see the Transformers break away from the evil clutches of Michael Bay and his unfortunate series of films, one thing is becoming increasingly clear. This spinoff/prequel for Bumblebee is not looking like its going to fare too well up against the huge numbers that Mary Poppins Returns and Aquaman are expected to make. In fact, it's looking like the new Transformers movie is now going to have the lowest opening weekend take of any of the movies in the entire series. That doesn't say anything about the quality of the film at all. In fact, it's probably the best or second best of the entire bunch. But set against two huge competitors and a weekend that's filled with numerous other releases, Bumblebee is looking to take in a lowly number comparatively.

With the highest Rotten Tomatoes score of any of the entries in the franchise and critical reception being great across the board, the stranded Autobot is now estimated to only bring in $22 million in its first three days at the box office. This is a very low number considering Aquaman is now looking to tally $80 million over the weekend. Again, the movie is actually quite good. It's just sad that they couldn't find a better release date for the film.
