Just this evening, Shout Factory announced they are working on a new blu-ray release for The Entity, the 1982 horror film based on a true haunting that occurred in 1974. Although a new transfer is not in the works, there are some new extras that Shout teased at that will be announced at a later date.
The Entity was directed by Sidney J. Furie (of illustrious Superman IV: The Quest for Peace fame) and stars Barbara Hershey. The story was based on the Doris Blither case, a reported haunting in Culver City, California, where a woman alleged the ghosts of three men were raping her. Martin Scorsese went on record saying that The Entity was one of the scariest horror films of all time.
