Science Fiction News: Netflix Announces Altered Carbon Anime Series and More

While the first season was not a massive success for Netflix, they've announced a second run which will trade up Joel Kinnaman with Anthony Mackie playing the same character in a new body. The science fiction series seems to be building more of a cult following as time goes on and does have a relatively large fan base in the science fiction community. Now, they've released plans to continue expanding on the mythology with a secondary series that will be fully animated.

The new anime show Altered Carbon: Resleeved will be produced by Anima Inc. and is slated as an official spin-off of the existing show. Alongside the new animated version of Altered Carbon, Netflix has also announced numerous other anime projects including Dragon's Dogma, Gods and Heroes, and SPRIGGAN.

The Netflix director of content (Japan), John Derderian had this to say:

"Netflix aims to be the most compelling and attractive home for anime fans, creators and production studios. We are creating an environment where production houses can do their best work, and deliver their shows on a service where we connect anime fans from over 190 countries to content they love.”
