Holy Bat News!: Robert Pattinson Set To Star In The Batman (Updated)

In a strange turn of events, Variety is reporting that former vampire Robert Pattinson is officially set to star as The Batman in Matt Reeves upcoming relaunch of the character. After Ben Affleck stepped down from the role months ago, the actor's name was thrown into the ring, but was not discussed much past that. Now, it seems that the actor that's turned from teenage heartthrob to an amazing dramatic actor over the last couple years will now be taking on the role of Bruce Wayne and his alter ego, Batman.

Since the final Twilight movie, Pattinson has gone on to star in critically acclaimed films like Good Time and the recent science fiction marvel, High Life. Now, he will be given the keys to Gotham City as he puts on the cowl in a more physically demanding role that will surely see major fan outcry. But much like other actors in the past, it remains to be seen how this comes out. With Matt Reeves behind the camera, it's surely going to be interesting. We'll update as we learn more.

Update: Apparently, Nicholas Hoult is also a final contender for the role.
