Mattel is making a huge move into a Galaxy Far Far Away with the release of Star Wars inspired Barbie Dolls. The line will consist of three dolls, R2-D2 inspired, Darth Vader inspired and of course Princess Leia inspired. At a price point of one hundred dollars a piece, they are right in the middle of the spectrum of toy pricing, and from the looks of them they will not lack in the quality department.
Each come with a display stand, packaging that actually screams to be used in the displaying of the dolls and more accessories than you can shake a lightsaber at, they are really showing a desire to enter a whole new market with a vengeance.
I have to say, that even as someone who has never really been in the Barbie target audience, these intrigue me and have me debating picking these up. Three are available for preorder from the Mattel website, hurry and order these things, they are awesome.
