Like A Spider With Flies: Jason Bateman to Direct and Star in Clue Remake with Ryan Reynolds

In the aftermath of the Fox/Disney merger,  Fox and Disney is looking for films to bolster their place in the Disney machine after a somewhat rough start at the box office.  It seems that we are learning some details about a project that is developing very quickly. This is one that will make a lot of folks happy.

Per Deadline, Jason Bateman, hot off of his Emmy win for directing Ozark, is in early talks to direct and potentially star in an brand new live action adaptation of the Hasbro board game Clue. Ryan Reynolds is attached to star and produce as well. Both Bateman and Reynolds are working together to develop this script as a part of the three year deal that Reynolds' company Maximum Effort made with 20th Century Fox last year. Hasbro's recently rebranded film division, Allspark Pictures, is also involved.

We here at The Movie Sleuth are all big fans of the original 1985 version of Clue and we are excited to see what Reynolds and Bateman bring to the table, especially given Bateman's experience with game nights. We'll keep you updated when we know more.
