The world of John Wick feels limitless and exciting, with endless fun action flicks to be made in this world. With John Wick 4 on the way and with Lionsgate wanting to make as much money as possible, it makes sense for them to want to build on the world and the brand. Per Deadline, we have just found out just how the world of John Wick is expanding in new directions.
Lionsgate and Len Wiseman have reached an agreement to make the film Ballerina, a spinoff of the hit John Wick franchise. Wiseman, who has his experience with the Underworld films directing women-centric action films, is directing from a script by Shay Hatten, who wrote John Wick 3 and Zack Snyder's upcoming Army of the Dead. The core production team behind the Wick franchise is involved with this including Keanu Reeves, who is rumored to make a cameo in the film.
Ballerina is the story of a young female assassin who seeks revenge against those who killed her family in what will surely be as bloody and as fun as the John Wick films. Lionsgate is fast tracking this one into production so we'll be sure to keep an eye out for any more updates on the film.
