Twenty years ago, audiences were first plugged into the Matrix and the cinematic world as we know it was changed forever. Now twenty years later, development is heating up on the fourth installment in the franchise.

Actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, best known for his roles as in Aquaman and Jordan Peele's Us, has joined the cast of the fourth Matrix film in an undisclosed role. He joins returning cast members Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne Moss for a film that is scheduled to start shooting in early 2020. Casting and plot details are being held as secret as possible.  Warner Brothers and the core production teams and companies of the original films, with the exception of Lily Wachowski, are all involved in this film.

For years, Warner Brothers has been trying to get more Matrix into the world but was having difficulty finding something to latch on to. Given Keanu Reeves strong summer at the box office and Lana Wachowski's willingness to write and direct the film, Warner Brothers have fast tracked this project. Personally, we are huge Matrix fans at the Movie Sleuth so we are ready to see whatever this movie will be.
