Sci Fi News: Jon Spaihts Exits Dune: The Sisterhood on HBO Max

The next huge science fiction film property in the next couple years is definitely going to be Dune. After the strange David Lynch film and a version that was made for television, most are very excited to see what happens with the upcoming adaptation from Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve. While work was beginning on the latest live action Dune movie, it was announced that there would be a series called The Sisterhood that would chronicle and expand on the universe. The show is set for HBO Max and initially had John Spaihts on board as show runner. Well, that just changed. He wrote the initial draft for the series and was going to remain on board for the long haul. Now, he's officially left the female led expansion of the Dune saga.

The good news is that he's not leaving altogether. Instead, he'll be working hand in hand with Villeneuve to work out the proposed sequels to the movie. Apparently, Denis will be directing the first episode of the Sisterhood and will be remaining on board as a creative consultant for any other connected projects.
