Secret Plans: Marvel/Star Wars Doctor Aphra Crossover Rumored for Disney+

With the massive success of The Mandalorian and fans finally putting some of their in them ternet fury behind, it looks like Disney+ is rather hot to get another live action show onto the platform. There are rumors swirling tonight that Lucasfilm has already secretly begun production on a show that no one has even heard about yet. Before The Mandalorian premiered, Making Star Wars' Jason Ward let on that the central focus of the first season of that show would center on a child of the same species as Yoda. Now, when talking to Inverse, he had this to say:

"A new Star Wars show is starting about now that nobody even knows about.  I’m hearing it’s a Lucasfilm-Marvel venture with both companies teaming up to bring a Star Wars show to the small screen.”

Supposedly, the show will begin streaming well before Obi-Wan or Cassian Andor begin their run on Disney+. According to the rumor mill, they've already begun production on a new series that will center on Doctor Aphra, the female character that was created specifically for Marvel Comics by Kieron Gillen and artist Salvador Larroca. In the comic, she's billed as "a criminal archaeologist with expert knowledge of droid and weapon technologies". She made her first appearance in 2015 in the Darth Vader #3 before getting her own run.

Again, this is all hearsay at this point, but wouldn't be surprising considering how Star Wars has definitely leaned into more female focused projects lately. We'll update if we hear more.
