Star Trek Renewal: Picard Gets Early Second Season Approval by CBS


In a second bit of Star Trek news today, it's being reported via Deadline that the new Picard series has already received a second season renewal by CBS All Access. The new show takes a look at Jean-Luc Picard later in life and will feature tons of cameos from The Next Generation and beyond. The second season has already been granted a $20.4 million budget and will be another ten episode run. The first season will begin on January 23, 2020 and is expected to be a runaway hit for the franchise as Picard is one of the most popular characters in the entire Star Trek universe and Patrick Stewart is universally loved by everyone!

Series stars Marina Sirtis, Brent Spiner, Jonathan Frakes and Jeri Ryan have all been confirmed in guest spots during season one. This will mark Stewart's first time returning to the role of Picard since the last movie in the Next Generation film franchise, Star Trek: Nemesis
