“Cursed” Image: Rourke And Lohan To Face-Off Killer In New Film

Mickey Rourke (Diner, Barfly) and Lindsay Lohan (Freaky Friday, Mean Girls) have both signed on to co-star in the upcoming supernatural/serial-killer thriller, Cursed, an Alt House Productions/Angel Oak Films joint-producing venture.

The film will be directed by Stephen R. Monroe (2010’s brutal revenge-remake, I Spit on Your Grave) and scripted by Ian Holt, who aside from numerous production and screenwriting credits (such as 2005’s well-regarded Dr.Chopper), is also a renowned Dracula-scholar, who has even written a Stoker estate-sanctioned Dracula sequel-novel, Dracula, the Un-dead (co-authored with Bram Stoker’s great-grand-nephew, Dacre Stoker).

Rourke will be playing *checks notes* respected psychiatrist Dr. David Elder, who enlists the help of a police detective played by *double-checks notes* Lindsay Lohan, to track down one of his escaped patients, who is holding hostages in a remote location.

This seemingly off-brand casting and the creative pedigree behind this film promises to be a wild ride, hopefully (re)re-igniting the fortunes of the two (occasionally) troubled actors, in a similar way to Nic Cage’s recent resurgence/embrace of the weird with 2018’s Mom and Dad and (Movie Sleuth fave) Mandy.

Production starts this summer for this intriguing project, be sure to check back with The Movie Sleuth for more updates!!!
