Gamma Gamma Hey: Is The Red Hulk Coming To The MCU?

As Marvel Studios continues on with its furious development of multiple projects on various platforms, another major character, in the form of the Red Hulk is now rumored to be moving from the world of comics/animation over into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Red Hulk’s first appearance in Marvel comics was back in 2008, and he was later revealed to be the Hulked-out (by way of M.O.D.O.K. and the nefarious AIM organization) alter-ego of longtime Bruce Banner/Hulk adversary, General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (who has been portrayed in the MCU by William Hurt since 2008’s The Incredible Hulk).

Details are extremely sketchy at this point, but one direction that the rumors are heading is that he’ll be popping up on the Disney+ She-Hulk streaming series (from Rick and Morty’s Jessica Gao), which is still in development and expected to begin shooting this summer.

The other track is that Red Hulk will be featured in one of the MCU’s high-dollar extravaganzas (some are speculating that it could be the Red Hulk-fronted super-team Thunderbolts, that also features Deadpool and Venom). Budget-wise, this would seem a logical move for what would likely be a completely CGI/motion-capture character.

No word yet on on if or when William Hurt is to be involved in this, but chances seem pretty good, since General Ross has a fairly high profile in this spring’s Black Widow movie.
