So Say We All: New BSG Will Be Part of the SyFy Continuity

When it was initially announced that we'd be getting a new Battlestar Galactica series on NBC's The Peacock streaming service, it was announced that it would be another reboot of the franchise. It was first thought that a new iteration would once again relaunch the entire BSG storyline. Well, that doesn't appear to be the case. Now, it appears that the upcoming show from Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot) will actually take place in the same continuity as the 2004 series from Ronald D. Moore. With that said, it's not clear if it will take place during the same timeframe or will be in a different era completely. When asked about the project, Moore had this to say:

"Sam called me and was very gracious, he didn’t pitch me the story, so I don’t know. But he said his plans, and he wasn’t going to re-start the show and recast it, but he wanted to do something in the same universe. Sam’s amazing, and I love ‘Mr. Robot.’ I was like, you know, ‘You’re an amazing guy and amazing writer, go with god!'”

Still, it's not quite clear of when the project will take place. But if it does end up running concurrently with our favorite version of BSG, it means we could end up seeing cameos or appearances from existing characters. Now, we wait and see what happens. Either way, it's of more interest now.
