Dark Justice Leagues at the Overlook: HBO Max Orders Three New Series from Bad Robot

Well, it's that time again where we finally have a piece of news that isn't about something getting delayed by Covid-19. Yep, it's some good news for once! Remember when those stories happened!?! Here's another one!

Last fall, J.J. Abrams signed a mega deal with WarnerMedia to develop films and television with the studio. Now, we are starting to see what exactly will come out of their deal. It seems as though the first things we will see from this deal are these three series that are set to appear on HBO Max.

The first show is a horror thriller entitled Overlook. Overlook is inspired by and featuring characters from Stephen King's The Shining. Overlook is said to be done in a similar style to Castle Rock or Bates Motel, where it is both a prequel and a reimagining. This series will be a reunion between Abrams, WB, and King after they worked together on two seasons of Castle Rock

The second show is an action thriller entitled Duster. Duster is set in the seventies and revolves a getaway driver for a growing crime syndicate in the Southwest. Abrams is co-writing the pilot with LaToya Morgan, a writer from The Walking Dead, and it sounds like a lot of fun.

The third show is untitled so far but is said to be related to the characters from Justice League Dark. It will focus on the mystical and offbeat dark corner of the DC universe featuring characters like John Constantine and Zatana. Bad Robot has been rumored to be developing a Justice League Dark project since January but this is the first time it has been confirmed. We are excited to see how these projects turn out and how they will help the HBO Max Library grow.
