Sony's animated Spider-Man film Into The Spider-Verse was a huge hit for the studio. And for many fans, it's considered to be the best webslinger movie ever made. There was never any doubt that a sequel would follow up the successful entry in the Spidey universe. Initially scheduled for an April 8th, 2022 release, the effects of the coronavirus have ultimately pushed that date back by several months. The follow up to the first feature will now be swinging into theaters on October 7th, 2022 as reported on the official Twitter page.
Joaquin Dos Santos (Voltron: Legendary Defenders) will be taking the directorial helm for the second Into The Spider-Verse movie. He's teamed with David Callaham who wrote the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984.
