Re-Enter The Matrix: Cypher Actor Has Pitched A Matrix 4 Return

As long as all goes as planned, next year will potentially see audiences returning to The Matrix for another long awaited sequel. After the conclusion of The Matrix Revolutions, we thought the series had concluded. But Lana Wachowski had other ideas. The series is getting another entry that if successful will spawn even more movies. Now, actor Joe Pantoliano has pitched a return of his character Cypher to to the director although he also perished during the original trilogy. Pantoliano had also previously worked with the Wachowskis on their cult hit Bound

When speaking with Cinema Blend, the actor revealed he's not only interested in seeing Cypher come back but has actively petitioned his return to the world of The Matrix. He says he's "sent little notes to Lana and asked her, to no response" and added "I doubt they're bringing me back". Although production has been halted due to the coronavirus, Pantoliano remains steadfast in his desire to see his character get a reprieve of sorts in part four. We're sure scripting has been completed if they were already in production which would mean he's out of luck. But maybe if this one is successful he'll be able to make it happen in the fifth movie.

At this current time, the only stars from the first trilogy that are returning are Keanu Reeves, Carrie Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith, and a rumored appearance by Lambert Wilson as the Merovingian. Pantoliano recently made an appearance in Bad Boys for Life as series regular Captain Howard.
