We're Gonna Need a Bigger Resolution: Jaws is Coming to 4K UHD

The world's first official summer blockbuster is finally swimming its way to 4K UHD on June 2 in a special 45th anniversary edition. Exact specs for Jaws are currently unknown, but it's fair to expect a new spotless transfer from the original negative and some new bonus features. This writer hopes that perhaps a short memorial is in order for Chief Brody himself (Roy Scheider), who has passed away since the last home video release of the film.

What is known for sure is that the special edition release will include a 44-page collectible booklet that features original storyboards, all encased in lenticular packaging. Best Buy will also have a limited edition steelbook with some nice classic and minimalist cover art.

Inarguably one of the greatest action-adventure films of all time, Steven Spielberg's timeless masterpiece will no doubt be an essential addition to every 4K fiend's collection. As more news about the features and specs of the disc become available, Movie Sleuth will keep you informed. In the meantime, stay healthy and stay out of the water.
