It seems like it's been forever since we heard news of the Jamie Foxx starring reboot of Spawn as a film franchise. The news came and went, then went almost completely silent with Todd McFarlane only leaving little comments here and there about about. Well now, things seem to be changing again on the Spawn front. Jason Blum just talked to ComicBook.com about the project and it seems that things are beginning to make headway again. When discussing the release of The Invisible Man on blu-ray and 4K this week, Blum says that there's been "an enormous amount of activity" going on for the project and he doesn't plan on it sitting dormant for much longer. Here's what he had to say:
“No new news that I’m going to reveal here, I’m sorry to tell you, but the title,Spawn, I’ve been uttering that word a lot in the last two or three weeks and we’ll have more news to come. But, suffice it to say, it is a very active development. I wanna make the movie so badly, I wouldn’t put that past myself, and it’s an excellent question, but in this case, I’ve actually been talking to other people about it, but there’s been a seismic event on Spawn.”
Earlier, McFarlane revealed that he'd be penning the script and was attached to direct the incoming project. He says the next movie version of his creation will be very dark and definitely R rated!
