Magic Dance Again: Scott Derrickson to Direct Labyrinth Sequel

It's that time again where we finally have a piece of news that isn't about something getting delayed by Covid-19. While everything is shut down, folks are developing whatever they can. Yep, those stories still happen and this one is a doozy! There is a Labyrinth sequel happening!

Scott Derrickson has signed on to direct the film for Sony/Tristar Pictures and The Henson Company. Maggie Levin will be writing the script and frequent Derrickson collaborator C. Robert Cargill will also be involved in producing the film. This is the second film Derrickson has signed on to since departing the Doctor Strange sequel back in January. There is no word yet on if Jennifer Connelly will reprise her role in this sequel or when this will shoot.

Labyrinth was a formative film for many of you and several directors have already tried to make this sequel happen to no avail. Especially with both Jim Henson and David Bowie gone, we are curious to see what they come up with. Let's hope that Scott Derrickson gets this made and that it is a respectful and meaningful sequel to a wonderful film.
