At long last, George Miller has begun work on another film that will take place in the Mad Max universe. Instead of continuing on right away with another movie that would feature Tom Hardy as Max Rockatansky, he's looking to go another route with a prequel that will give us a back story for Furiosa, the character previously played by Charlize Theron. The new film about Imperator Furiosa will apparently take place long before the events of Fury Road with focus moving back to the beginnings of the armageddon. Although talks had begun back in March with Anya Taylor-Joy in early discussions, it looks like the studio is now looking at other actresses to attack the role.
Today, word broke that they're now in talks with actress and Emmy winner Jodie Comer of Killing Eve to be their star. While many fans were hoping to see Hardy back behind the wheel in the next movie, it looks like Miller is more ready to expand on the back story of the world by shifting focus to Furiosa. There is no confirmation on when the film will be released yet or when it will hit production.
